Can anyone recommend a basic bike for a 5'4" female (that's me!) which doesn't have about 1000 complicated gears and that is easy to get on and off - oh, and doesn't cost the earth?

Or is there a nice friendly shop in Belfast where I wouldn't feel silly going and asking for such a bike?:o

    gears dont make it complicated
he cut the effort required ;)
easier if you post a budget and what you require of the bike

My first old 2nd hand bike had no gears and it suited me fine! If I come to a hill that is too steep I prefer to get off and just wheel it up.:)

I want the bike for cycling on country roads and the towpath and don't want to spend more than £150

Hmmm, I got a pretty good bike ( for my needs) for less then a Hundred quid from Halford

Yes it had a feww more gears then Im gonna use as I use it for the lanes and roads out here on the NW coast - not racing or heading off road and the frame I have suits my tiny inside legs a treat.

Best of all the saddle has never once hurt

But then the longest Id ride my bike at any one time would be around 10/15 miles
