Making stock from beef bones

  • I took the plunge and asked the local butcher for some bones (which were free!) how do I turn them into stock? All advice gratefully received.

    I think you just cover them with water and boil them till the meat falls off...

    and skim off the fat - cos there was loads when I made my dog marrowbone soup.... !!!

    you might have to put herbs in too - will go check....

    mum says simmer it slowly 0 the longer its cooking for,the more flavour you get...

    Hi there :beer: We have an existing thread with loads of tips on how to do this, soI'll add your question to that ;)

    I'd roast them to give more flavour, but do put on a timer so that you don't forget them - I speak from experience having thrown away carbonised bones on several occasions :o
