I've done it!!!

I will freely admit that this has nothing to do with money saving but I have to tell someone!!

For far too long I have sat and for the sake of family unity, let my OH's family make comments about us or our children.

Today I finally stood up to some of my OH family today and boy did it feel good!! :j I wasn't nasty or rude I just corrected their opinion of my DS and then removed my children from what I see as a unhealthy environment!!

Watch out this !!!!! bites!!!

#Good for you no one has the right to put people down. It took me over 20 yrs to realise this lol x
  • Thanks, its started about 2 and a half years ago and got significantly worse after an arguement 2 yrs ago!! My children never behaved properly, my DS was 2 rough, at a yr old some of them where calling him a bully!!

I must point out that this is OH's Aunts and cousins, with occassional help from his sister. If his mum was still alive they would have been roasted alive for any of the comments they have made!!
  • Well done and you have my sympathy.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

    Well done!

It took me a while to find a voice with my OH's family but I feel I have more respect now for doing it. The nicest time for me though was last summer when we were on a "family" holiday and my OH stood up for me to his sister who is very sneaky and makes underhand comments but does it in such a way that she says them in a nice way - if that makes sense. He finally got what I meant and had a right go at her, that led to a very strained day out but it made her realise we are a united front!

I hope you have got the backing and support of your OH - well done again :)
:D Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference. :D
  • Thanks again, I hope I haven't made it look like my OH doesn;t care, 2 yrs ago he stood up for me and our DS and unborn child against his sister who was taking the p!ss with certain issues, the majority of his family sided with his sister!! (big surprise there!!)

There were several huge arguements in regards to this and the pressure caused me to loss one of the babies I was carrying and threatened my DD right till she was born, in recent times there has been a kind of uneasy truce where we see them at birthdays but that its, the comments have continued but I have done my best to ignore them!!!

Just today it came to a head, with me having a say there and then rather than holding my tongue and complaining about it when I get home!!! Espeacially as I can count on one hand the number of times the person in question has seen my DS since he was born!!!

I dont know why some people feel the need just to upset everyone else, its just awful, i think almost everyones family has one the sooner they are stood up against the better
