Good quality tableware?

We've been given some money specifically to start a good quality set of plates, bowls etc. to replace our tatty odd collection.
It would need to be dishwasher and microwave proof, preferably ovenproof too - oh - and kidproof!
We've dipped our toe into the discount shop for Denby, but don't really know what would be best as it all seems so expensive.
Any ideas welcome,
Thanks.

I know these will not be what you are looking for, and they are not very posh (in terms of being good quality), but we have these, and they are very nice and very pretty:

They are a much, much, much more economical version of these posh plates, which I could never afford but absoloutely adore:

Maybe a nice cheap standby for when you get your good quality stuff!M.A.C.A.W member number 39

You won't go wrong with Denby. We have just bought our second set in 20 years from https://www.tablewhereshop.co.uk
Their items are first quality not seconds & better prices than the factory shops & other stores/sites. Well recommended.
