Working on oil rigs

hey there,

Jist looking for a bit of advice for my BIL, hes is thinking of going to work off shore on the oil rigs.

He is a time served plater, and he knows he has to do some course (Sorry I cant remember the name) before he can apply for any jobs.
The course is very expensive, but he is trying to find out if there are jobs available for people who dont have any offshore experience.
There seems to be alot of jobs out there, but, whether they will take someone on without off shore experience or not is another thing.

Does anyone have any ideas? Ive told him that he should maybe contact some employment agencies that deal with off shore work and see what they say?

Any advice for him would be great.

Thank you.

He will need the bosiet certificate to work in uk waters if he wants to work outside or uk waters he needs the norwegian course too ,looking well over 5k for both and then has he any experience if not and i dont want to seem harsh tell him to pop along to old trafford and ask alex ferguson if theres any positions available on the team he would have more luck .
Oil rigs is one of the hardest jobs to get in ;its all to do with who you know and experience .a bloke i worked with got made redundant and spent over £5k on courses and he still not on them 4 years later
