just wondering if anyone got married abroad using Thomson travel agent? or any of the other high street ones,
where did you get married and would you recommend it?
I really am completely open as to where we should get married, planning it for next september/october, so with just a year (sounds a longgggg time but will be here in no time) to plan, save, buy I am thinking that hawaii or dominican might be out of the question, but still want something that we will remember for the rest of our lives,
a few family and friends might pay to come, did / would you book everyone into the same hotel? I dont really care if nobody comes as long as my children do, ages 3, 16, 20, but i am thinking of booking 7 or 10 days as a family then an extra few days for my and my o.h, but not sure I would like waving my whole family off, Id be on tenterhooks until I knew they had arrived home safetly
I think I would prefer to go through a travel agent as they have more experience and no doubt I would end up missing something,
thank you in advance x

I think if you go through an agent you will have to factor in the extra cost. If at all possible I would always recommend cutting out the middle man.
Do loads of research first and then go round 3 or 4 travel agents and see what they all recommend and what the differences are.
I think an agent would just use the same contact abroad as what you could find. I have however heard Sandals Weddings have excellent customer care.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I agree with the poster above - cut out the middle man if possible. We are just back from getting married in Cuba (Paradisus Rio de Oro), and booked the wedding part of it directly with the hotel. From speaking to other couples getting married at the resort, we saved money and certainly had less stress than going through a TA.
Cuba seems to be very popular for weddings, and whilst the resort we were at doesn't accept children, there are many other good resorts offering weddings.
Good luck in your search!Sealed Pot Challenge No. 2860 -

I've looked at that hotel and it looks lovely, lucky you!

In regards to the hotel thing, we always stay in condos in hawaii (maui) (take a look on www.vrbo.com ) as they are much cheaper than hotels. You rent directly from the owners and get much more space than in a hotel.
I gave all of the guests who replied to the invitation a load of information telling them where we were staying so they could rent a condo there too if they liked, and then wrote a page about different parts of the island incase they wanted to stay elsewhere, and they could contact me if they needed any help booking. Everyone ended up staying in the same place as us, apart from 2 families who stayed 5 mins down the road, which was nice as we had a big bbq 2 nights before the wedding.
Try not to worry too much about other people if its possible, just give them the info they need, you will have enough to do arranging all your own stuff. My husbands family isnt that great on the computer, so I had to book all their flights, arrange all their condos, esta forms, I was like a mini travel agent haha! but most of the other guests just asked me a few questions and then did the rest themselves.
I honestly would try to do it yourself if you can and cut out the price of using a travel agent. I know for hawaii it has always worked out best doing it myself because most of them arent very specialised in going there.0
