Help With Debt Collector?

We signed up with Payplan in Sept, anyway we have just started making payments as Payplan had trouble getting in touch with alot of my creditors and as yet still havent been able to get in contact with Capital One, they are simply not replying to Payplan.

Any way on the 23rd Of December while I was at work a debt collector called on behalf on Capital One, my pregnant wife was at home and he treatend her with all sorts. I.E removing goods etc, she phoned me at work in a terrible state so much so I had to leave work and go home. The debt collector said he'd be back!! (Obviously watching to much Arnie schwarzenegger ).

So anyway Christmas eve he lands back and I was at home. I open the door to this 60+ 5ft 5 fat bald guy. He wanted to know what was going on. I told him it was with payplan and gave him there number. I then had it out with him and he was unresponsive and left.

What I want to know is what powers exactly do these guys have? And payplan are trying to make payment but capital one wont respond so what will happen. I think if one of these guys return and threaten my wife again I wont be so calm.

Advice appreciated

debt collectors have absolutely no powers whatsoever.

baliffs have powers of entry but they can only be instructed after a court order. (essentially after a CCJ and a subsequent enforcement order).

obvioulsy dont let him in your house under any circumstances and just tell him to leave. in he doesn't leave your property phone the police but its unlikely to come to that as he knows he has no powers.

    Hi,
Sorry, but I do not know much about payplan e.t.c. You say payplan are 'trying' to make a payment. Can they not just send them the money with your reference number? They may not agree with your terms, but it will look good if it goes to court and you state that payments were made despite them frustrating your efforts.
Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.
