My son and I have been sharing a laptop and it is driving both of us insane. We both want it, or need it at the same time. Any idea where I can get a laptop cheaply. I live in Inverness,, but can't really travel far.

I've used a company called ITCSales before - clearance and second hand laptops in various condition.

Quite a few come without an operating system though, so you'd either have to pay for Microsoft Windows or put a Linux variant such as Ubuntu on it.
