Natural Bio Yogurt for Thrush

Hello!

I did do a search on here, but couldn't find any info, but apologies if I missed something....

My doctor has told me to eat natural bio yogurt for re-occurring thrush. Can anyone advise me on which one I should be buying.

There are so many yogurts that I am getting confused. I would prefer ones which are in individual pots rather than the huge pots, and obviously the most money saving ones lol!

Does anyone know if its got to be unsweetened or unflavoured?

Any help would be appreciated. Oh, I have a Tesco, Sainsburys, Aldi and Iceland close by.

Thank you :)

Any natural unflavoured yoghurt will do, it doesn't need to be bio-yoghurt but you may find it to be beneficial. Whatever you do, make sure it is not sweetened - yeast loves sugar!

I am assuming the thrush is oral? If so , swish it around your mouth after a meal, 4 times a day and don't drink anything for an hour afterwards. If it's your lower gut, just gulp it down. If it's pv, eating it won't do you any good at all! You'll have to apply it locally (dip a tampon in / load an applicator with it).

  • Thanks for that. It is down below!

The Doc said to eat it, but did say I could put it on a tampon.

There was just so many types and makes. I will definately make sure its unsweetened though. I tend to buy unsweetened anyway but will double check.

    Thanks again.

Years ago, I use it on tampons, and it was very effective! Definitely only use natural, UNSWEETENED plain yoghurt!

Once you've cured your present dose, and if you're prone to thrush, then I'd suggest trying something like Multibionta, (http://www.seven-seas.com/multibionta), if you take multivits. I've been using these ( I take the 50+ ones) for years, and have found that, even after a course of antibiotics...when I ALWAYS got thrush...I remained thrush-free!!

If not, then some form of probiotic drink or plain yoghurt daily, might help long-term to keep thrush at bay HTH
