  • I made one for my hubby this year in a compartment box designed for screws etc and the whole family loved it and the box is useful in his workshop as well.

I also bought the £1 boxes from woolies in their sale,in blue, green, red and yellow so Im ready for this christmas, as my sons want me to make them one as well.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I made one with all types of mints in and my Dad loved it!
I also made the suggestion of nuts for anyone with a savoury tooth (rather than sweet)
They do make great presents and are so different people are always very grateful.
    ;) Newbie Comper ;)
Wins so far-crunchie bar, Friends DVD set,
Clynol shampoo + cond, LUSH Christmas set

I would definately like to try making these for next year. If anybody sees the boxes for £1 again please could you let me know? I am thinking that these would be excellent additions to a 'shoe box' once the children have eaten thier sweets Mum or Dad are left with a handy box....

Yes, mine went down a storm too with my brothers (30).

You don't necessarily need to get a compartment box - simply put your sweets into small grip-seal bags and arrange in a basket... et voila!

[...more sweets were added after this pic was taken!]

The grip-seal bags keep the sweets nice and fresh; I know some people who posted the original retro sweets thread had to re-buy sweets because the others had gone 'funny'!

I know that they come in boxes like these

but I found these tins in M&S the smaller one
has a clear panel in the lid its in their sale for 49p
the larger is 64p.Both in their xmas clearance in the
food hall. The biscuits taste yuck, but I thought that if I
put each type of sweets in a little cello bag and filled
them the smaller one I can just pop the lid on ,but the
larger one I thought I would put the little bags in and then
cover it with cello, before placing the lid on it.

might be a good alternative for anyone who cant
find the clear boxes also you can re use the ribbon
    on the larger one.

I might do some of these for Easter

Good thinking! I will too. Thanks.
  • I bought five of the Woolies boxes yesterday and have already filled one for my grandaughters birthday.

I used some of the wrapped sweets I had for Xmas (saves me eating them) and some wine gums etc. It looks great so thanks for the idea!
