New Back Acc not affiliated with creditors?

I want to get the ball rolling and open new bank accounts for my husband and I which aren't affiliated to any current creditors but i''m not sure where to begin! This is a list of creditors, does anyone have any ideas who we can open an account with?
Creditors:
Barclaycard, Bank of Scotland, Virgin, Mint, Egg, RBS, Santander, Lloyds TSB. We currently bank with RBS but we have credit card and overdraft debts with them.
Can anyone tell me if First Direct, Nationwide or HSBC are linked to any of my creditors? Are they good options?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

You are in the clear with those. You may need to go for their "basic" accounts though if your credit rating is shot.
Co-op Cashminder is another very good one. Easy to get and even people who are currently bankrupt can get one of those.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I recommend cash minder account with cooperative bank, very easy to use, and direct debits go out as usual.B/R ..... May 24th 2011

Hi, thanks for the replies everyone. We would be looking to open 2 separate current accounts and a joint account for bills. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!0 -
Nationwide and HSBC are pretty sound choices, I think they both offer a 'basic' account (i.e. for Direct Debits and Cashcard withdrawals), and Co-Op as mentioned above. And if you want to spread your accounts around a little, online banking and faster payments means it's a lot easier to move money than it used to be.Worried_Girl wrote: »Hi, thanks for the replies everyone. There's a partial list of who owns who on the FSA website - might be worth a quick look (but check the banks' websites too for any other associated companies): http://www.fsa.gov.uk/Pages/consumerinformation/uk_groups/index.shtml0 -
If your credit rating isn't trashed yet, you could go for a current account with the Co-operative Bank (we applied just before entering our DMP
). It has a visa debit card, direct debits, online banking and the option of applying for an overdraft (we've never bothered for obvious reasons!) We've had no problems with them and AFAIK they're not affiliated to any of the major creditors. LBM August 2007Amount Owed £101,068.35
