really? for a freeview box? POundland? wow?!0

pounland, poundstretcher and home bargains do a £1 remote, as to whether it has a code for ur freeview or not. But for a £1 u cant go wrong and if it doesnt work at least u will have a spare remote.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

I bought an 8-1 remote a couple of weeks ago in Lidl for £4.99 and I think Aldi also had them. These are good quality with an LCD screen, much better than the Poundland ones, and I've read that they may have a learning facility on them but I haven't tried that myself.
Years ago most Tv's, videos had three digit codes but some things now like my Technomate receiver use a four digit code.0 -

Do you live in a strong signal area? What's the make of your current box, and has it been working OK?
Generally you get what you pay for with Freeview boxes, as with everything else. For example, a £70 Humax box will be better than a £30 one from Argos.
Also check Ebay, as you can often get spare remotes on there.0 -
Hi,
I have just bought a freeveiw box from marks and spencers.
It was reduced from £39.50 to £15.00.
It is branded sagem .
It has 2 scart and came with a scart lead.
It setup automatically.
so far I am very impressed with it.
If you are lucky thet may have some left in store.0 -
hello richer sounds had phillips free view boxes on sale from boxing day reduced from £49.99 down to £9.99 have a look on their website...........0

Thanks for all these terrific replies. My oh thought that you had to have the original remote to program the new one? Is this true?
Ta x0 -
I think you need to original to program a learning remote. But these 8-1 type remotes let you go thru all the codes 'til you find one that works.
The Lidl 8-1 remote shows on the screen Thomson 151 if you are using it on a Thomson with a code of 151 or whatever make of code is being used.
Of course if you can get a new Freeview box and remote for £10 - £15 that's certainly worth considering.0 -
