hi all
me and my partner are expecting our 1st child in march and are trying to find out what kind of financial help we can get as we could really use some!! we have looked everywhere but its all very confusing :O( we both work full-time but once the baby is born she wants to work part-time.
so we thought we would come on here and see if anyone can help?
many thanks

Hi & welcome
There's a specific 'Benefits & Tax Credits' board with a sub-forum for 'Child Support' - you might be better posting this on there.
Also, on the 'Marriages, Relationships & Family' board, there's quite a few pregnancy-related threads that your partner might find interesting.
I'm sure you'll get lots of advice and help.

Hi
Have a look online to find your nearest sure start children's centre, which offer all sorts of free advice, services and activities from antenatally til your child is 5 years. You may find that your antenatal classes are run there.0 -
there are several threads you should look at, there is a less than 12 weeks pregnant thread and a 12-24 week on depending how far gone you are (too early for me to add up figures!).
as another poster said there is the benefits board - but I would suggest going on www.entitledto.co.uk where it will give you a rough amount that you can expect to get in benefits.
congrats by the way!0 -
thank u all very much :O)0

When I had my first baby my partner and I worked full time, and I continued to work full time after my maternity leave ended.
All families are entitled to £81.20 Child Benefit every 4 weeks unless you earn a really high wage, and some families will also get some sort of Tax Credits/Child Tax Credits/Working Tax Credits but it all depends on how much you and your partner earn. Our Tax Credits were stopped in April as we are on the 'middle' band and we don't qualify for any help towards our childcare either :-(
Also the maternity grant has now been stopped which is a shame and I don't know if new babies now get the £250 from the government for a savings scheme, i think that may have been axed now too
