Tesco Refunds & Tesco Clubcard Points?

I just wondered about this if you buy something at Tesco and then take it back because it is faulty or doesnt fit, do you loose your club card points?

I know it happens with my Boots advantage card but what about the clubcard?

Depends on the person at customer services.
Normally when I've taken stuff back, they don't bother; but on friday, I took back 3 PS2 games and a DVD and my Clubcard was practically demanded.
I had actually unwittingly left it behind, so she wrote down the number and will ring cc to take the points off - 82 hardly a big deal.

  • I thought they would do that, I can imagine someone buying a £1000 plasma then wanting to take it back and keeping the clubcard points.

If your taking back a small inexpensive item they probably dont bother.

When I worked at Sainsburys, it was entirely down to the CS person's discretion. Basically if it was a small amount, and you were a customer with a genuine reason for return (rather than someone "playing the system") then you could keep your points. If we'd sold faulty goods I'd usually let them keep the points as goodwill. If someone was taking the micky though, we could remove points (using details from the original reciept if the card wasn't present when the refund was made!)

January challange - sell 10 items. 0 down, 10 to go!
  • Thats really how it should be AndyR, but it would be great if it was possible to get away with it.

I work for tesco and i've never taken off clubcard points on refunds the only way they can take off your points is by actually ringing up clubcard i suspect there are some jobsworth's that do actually do it but there is no function on the till to deduct points. They ask for your clubcard because it brings up your details saving them asking for your name and address.
    :p MADE YOU LOOK :p
  • I often buy things from Tesco if I have a points coupon/till spit. Bought a TV series DVD the other day and then returned it the next day and said I had found it cheaper somewhere else. i think they let you keep the points because my clubcard wasn't asked for.
