Does a price comparison between four supermarkets - three main - Tesco/Asda/Sainsbury
I did a sample basket, just for fun, then had a look at their suggestions to save more money on the shop.
Came out very interesting!
If you aren't near a Lidl or Aldi, it could come in useful.

Great site!
Did our average week's shop and OH was very gratified to see that Asda came in at £20 less than the other sites (as we always go to Asda and I sometimes ask to drive the extra few miles to Tesco "just to see" if it is cheaper - he always refuses on the grounds that he hates Tescos!)
Worked out at Asda £66, Sainsburys £86, Tesco £87 and Ocado £105!!!
Also liked the option to print the shopping list and the Check-it-out section - noticed a couple of swaps that would be a good idea.0 -
In my town we only have a Tesco - unfortunately!
I love Asda.
I wonder why they didn't include a Morrison's in the price comparison?
Also, I wonder why anybody ever sets foot into Sainsbury's???? It is astronomically expensive - folks are just throwing money away!0 -
Thanks for the link SandraLC - I'll be checking this on a regular basis now. I thought I'd heared of it previously - but you know how hard it is to search for things (heaven forbid a capital letter slips in, lol)

I think this is mainly a myth - yep, there's plenty of pricey stuff about, but there are bargains to be had. I find them cheaper than Tesco or Asda for a fair few things.0 -
I also find comparesupermarketprices .co.uk useful.

I got an email about this site a couple of weeks ago and tried it out. Asda is definitely the cheapest shop, and I was totally shocked to see just how much more expensive, Ocado/Waitrose it compared to asda.
My shopping bill with asda, was £52, Waitrose was £109
Now I know that waitrose have some really nice organic foods etc but in this day and age of massive mortgages, high travel costs and rising interest rates how many of us can afford to pay double for our weekly shop?0 -
I put in my shopping for Sainsburys and came out cheapest at the check out.!. Tesco and Asda were £3 more expensive.
I always shop at Sainsburys, but didn't think it would be cheaper than Asda or Tesco.0 -
On my price comparison Asda was £52, Tesco was £74 and Sainsbury's was £86!!0
