Thought I should come back to this thread and finish off my experience with ING. I finally managed to get the ING fixed 4.95 rate before it was pulled out of the market.
My experience is still the same. They were the best around rate wise when I got them. But, their processing method needs an overhaul. They give you online tracking, but mostly do nothing with your application unless you call. You have to go via their call center based in Reading and talk to a different person every time. You always get the extension and name of the person, but that person is never available again. These call center people are dummies, so can't decide what to do on the pending things. You have to tell them what they need to do. Or keep asking them about what they are expecting the applicant to do. Finally got hold off a team leader, who initial wasn't very supportive as well but becase very useful once he was told that I was about to pull off the whole thing and report ING to the authorities for holding me up. Not sure if it was a real threat, but things moved quickly from there on and managed to finish everything off.
I still like them. They were offering the best fixed rate at that time and don't have any hidden fees or tie-ups as well. Looks like their product offering and planning is pretty good. Only the execution lacks the support to the product.
Overall, a good company to work with if you know how to shout across a phone line several times to get things done.
  • My experience is the same as boy's. They were fast to start with, but have now ground to a standstill. Nothing happens unless i phone and hassle them and sometimes not even then. Now over a month past the completion date they originally agreed to, and counting .
  • i just got a mortage with ING when the fixed rate was 4.95% (which they have since pulled), completed 1st February. Overral found them great, had to rig them a couple of times and couldn't speak to the original person but in general found them pleasant and efficient to deal with. Would have no qualms about dealing with them in the future or recommending them to anyone

What is the likelihood of the Fixed rate product returning any time soon?
    Nice to save.
