Are Lowell Claiming to be HSBC

hi my partner has recieved a letter from Lowell financial but the weird thing is its on hsbc headed letter paper its from somoene who claims to be from hsbc plc dated this week with our new address- we did not give hsbc our new address my partner hasn't had an account with them in about 5 years but on but it says that loweell finance own the alleged debt and it has the same font on the adress as the lowell letter included inside ..
why would hsbc send this letter but include a lowell finance letter inside or is it as i supsect lowell finance trying to pull a fast one

lowell have a habit of faking notices of assignment to try and make it look as if it came from the original creditor
they are just not very good at it :cool:
the faked letters are obviously mocked up, and done in a laughably amateur fashion0 -
legally the notice can come from the company who bought the debt.
they don't need to fake a letter to do that
so it makes you wonder what else is legally dodgy about the sale of the debt that makes them feel the need to forge a letter from HSBC?0
