Over contracted hours

So if your contract says 40hrs a week, then you have no leg to stand on. That 40hrs can be 2x11hr days and three x 6hr days. On those 11hr days you'd not be entitled to overtime. Only once you'd done 40hrs would you get it - I know of many haulage companies who work this way - standard rate for the first 40hrs regardless of the hours worked per day and then overtime after that.

We don't get any overtime at all, it's only on a Friday we get sent home early, but that is down to them. We don't just walk out, we only go when told to. Surely they must pay us for extra hours we do, and when we say we are leaving when our 40 hours are up theythreaten us with the sack. Nice company eh

unfortunately a lot of companies don't pay overtime these days. I worked for a place a few years ago that would send me out on a job at about 4pm with half hour travel time. They'd do it so the job would get done, they wouldn't have to pay me extra and because it was in my time i'd obviously work faster than if it was their time.

If I was contracted to do 40 hours I would never do not 1 minute more.
Workers cannot be forced to work for more than 48 hours a week. Your employee has to keep records of all your working hours to show that they are complying with working regulations.
If you choose to work more than 48 hours a week you must agree in writing at the same time you signed your contract. If you signed this form unknowingly opt out asap
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun
