Holiday entitlement

I have employees at my place of work who have recently joined the company that are on 25 days A/L per year. I have been with the company 7 years and still only on 20 days per year although we have to save 3 for the Christmas period.
These guys have come on board on the condition my company could match their previous contract.
We do 60 hrs a week most weeks although I have done 90 hrs before surely not enough entitlement for the hrs worked.
Where do stand with this just no justice in this world.

is the '3 for christmas' to cover the days after Christmas where work is shut?
All you can really do is complain to your boss / HR. Not sure why there's no justice in the world because your work matched their existing contract and you may not have approached the boss about it.0 -
Yes that is correct the company closes between Christmas & new yr. I'm guessing he thought we'd never find out if it's good for 1 it's good for all especially those that have been loyal to company for so long.
I just wanted to know if what he is doing is wrong and should I also be pushing for more holiday.0 -
Not really doing anything wrong as you all have individual contracts so as long as he's giving you the minimum allowed holidays, he's legal. all you can do is speak to them and try and have yours renewed.0

Where I work it is gross misconduct to discuss details of your contract with others. Holidays are the same for everyone but be careful what you talk about & who with!0

Is that 25 days plus bank holidays or 25 days including bank holidays? I think annual leave is a minimum of 28 days a year, but this can include the eight regular bank holidays.0

If someone managed to negotiate a better contract than you then that's their good fortune. It doesn't mean that your company has to give you the same deal.
On the other hand, it clearly shows that your boss is open to negotiation on things like holidays, so it might be worth speaking with him. Make a formal appointment with him/her, stay calm, be polite and ask if it would be possible to negotiate a change in your contract. It would probably be best if you didn't say that you know so-and-so have more holidays - it's never good to admit to being a gossip - just respectfully and reasonably request a review in your holidays. Beware though - your boss might want something from you in return! You had me at your proper use of "you're".0
