Help- paying for PT distance learnt course
Comments
-
There is a loan, a career development loan. The problem is that you start paying it back very soon, regardless of whether you've got a job.
I'm not really sure why jobseekers comes into it - it does make some courses cheaper, but not undergraduate courses, as far as I know. The only way to get them subsidised is to go full time, and get student loans.0 -
thanks for the replies everyone. It is a undergraduate course- why would deferring until next year make a difference?
Because under the new system part time undergraduate students will (probably) have increased tuition fees but will also be able to get tuition fee loans. (Well, as I understand it anyway- I only know what I do because of the changes the Open university have had to make)

All part time undergraduate HE courses, whether distance or otherwise, are currently eligible for a means tested fee grant. This is the same funding as is available with the OU.
However, from what I can see,
http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/students/courses/postgraduate/distance/edu/autism-adults.aspx
you're looking at post graduate courses for which no automatic funding is avilable but for which a PCDL would be appropriate.
I'm puzzled as to why you think it's an undergraduate qualification.0
