Hi,

Firstly, apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place. I am not sure where to go with it!

Basically my wife had just received a final letter from 3 mobile saying that she has an upaid bill ..... from 2005! It's only £8 so nothing at all but she has never been advised of this since then. She has since even had another 3 phone contract but on a different number and they never ever mentioned this bill.

As it got passed to a debt agency she has paid it immedietely as soon as she saw it but I am pretty frustrated with 3 as she never ever was notified of this outstanding balance until this letter came through.

My worry now is, has it affected her credit rating? Would it mean a default? She's not had notification she has defaulted? We're planning on getting a mortgage very soon so this is a little worrying!

was the letter from 3 or some debt collector calming to represent them.

If the debt was hers and was from 2005 it probably had a default dated back in 2005 or 2006 - she needs to check her credit files to see if there is any mention of the account or a default.
If there isn't then either it wasn't her debt or the default was more than 6years ago and so has already 'dropped off' her credit file.
A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give

It was 3 to start with, so my wife called the 3 customer services (she obtained the number via their website instead of the letter just incase) to confirm it was legit. Then it was from the debt company afterwards.
