Sammy115 2007 goals

I am determined this year to get a grip on my life. I started last December joining the MSE boards and determined to get debt free. Well, as always, what is the saying - Gods laughs at a planner? I lost my job whilst on maternity leave and all my debt free plans went out of the window. Then when I got another job OH lost his job. He has now got another job and starts next week. So I would like to tell you all about my goals for 2007 and lets see if I can get a bit further this year.

1. Lose a stone and get fit
I have already lost a stone this year and with a bit of determination should shift the next one - this is a short term goal and I think should be achieved in three months. To do this I am going to carry on going to Slimming world and go to the gym three times a week.

2. Set up my own business
This was my original plan last year after I had had my baby. So I am kind of halfway there. I have a couple of clients already but I am struggling to fit them in as well as working full time with a family. I am applying to the local accountants to see if they have work to sub-contract to me. This is tied in with my next goal.

3. Give up my job
This is a hard one (and probably the most difficult to achieve) After the year I have had it will be hard to give up the stability of a guaranteed income, but then we have learnt to budget quite well over the last year that I am sure we will manage. It will also free up more time for me to concentrate on setting up my business and making moneysaving recipes. My employment tribunal is on the 12th January too so maybe fingers crossed I may get some compensation (or at least my owed pay, holiday pay, redundancy etc). If I am successful I will hand my notice in.

4. Become fully qualified accountant
Another goal started a couple of years ago but ended when I got pregnant. This is linked to me wanting to emigrate to Australia. I am going to investigate getting a career development loan for this. I know I shouldn't really add to my debt but I can't afford to pay for this myself. Does anyone know if you can get CDL with a dicky credit score. (Defaults not ccj's)

5. Save money
I know you shouldn't save when you have debts but this is my emergency, christmas, birthday fund etc. I want to get into the habit of saving. £60 a week should do it at the moment.

6. Reduce debts by 50%
Already reduced my debt from £25,000 to £20,000 this year, but only by claiming bank charges back! This year I would like to clear £10,000 of this debt AT LEAST, maybe a little more.

Well thats my lot. Has anyone else got any goals. You know what they say, if you write your goals down you are more likely to achieve them.

Good luck everyone for a more prosperous 2007

Thanks you two and good luck angel on your impending event!!

Have had a busy afternoon and am now reckoning up how much it will cost me to study. A fortune it seems and I don't think I would get a career development loan after our run of bad luck. But I am not deterred as it seems the DFW in me seems to have sunk in and I didn't really want another loan.

Thats all I could manage and I have had to go to bed again now to try and recover before work tomorrow!
