Hello,
I was on JSA and i know you are aloud 2 periods of sickness, and if you're sick again then you have to sign off and make a new claim, the question is do you get paid JSA until you sign off?

Well, just had my P45 come in the post, leaving date of 5/7/11 listed on there, a full 2 weeks before i went in and signed off, went to the jobcentre on 20th and signed off, giving a sign off date of 19/7/11
so it looks like a mess up on my P45 or the lady on the front desk lied to me and i will have no money paid from the 5th til 19th July....
Oh joy, borrowed some money off of my mum and told her i will give it her back once i get my jsa paid (which now looks unlikely) so now she is out of pocket for a couple of weeks while i sort my rapid reclaim out, which i was going to do tomorrow or monday anyway, its just a pain being (possibly) lied to and my mother being out of pocked for an extra couple of weeks

Hmm had a letter today saying that i "did not attend to sign my declaration"... so it looks like the booklet i handed into them to sign off (which was all filled out) was either lost by them or not handed in from the lady on the front desk... so by the looks of it i have to appeal this decision, right? chances of me getting the verdict my way despite them (by the looks) having lost my booklet? slim? non at all??
    Not !!!!ing happy!

Phone up your signing team, tell them you signed off & handed form in at counter.
Try to get friendly person who will help & be friendly back.

Mistakes happen, it can take time for documents to be processed & catch up with themselves.

If they cannot sort or confirm, phone again few days later.

Will probably go in on Monday as its cheaper to go up on the bus and back than to call them on an 0845 number

I'm not sure what you're actually trying to say here and it's quite possible that there has not been any error made

How many periods of sickness have you had during the last 12 months ?
When did you last sign on at the jobcentre ?
What date did you become sick ?
How long were you sick for ?

    ok.
I had a sick period of no more than 2 days and missed a signing on day in March, and was sick in May for about 3 days and missed my sign on date. I know you're aloud 2 periods of sick during a year (or something like that) and if you are sick again and miss your sign on date that you have to sign off and make a new claim. I wasnt well on the day i was meant to sign on which was 19th July, and this being the 3rd time being sick i went into the job centre the following day (20th) and signed off, I was told by the lady at the front desk that i would be paid up until the date i put in my sign in card/booklet thing which i put as the date i was meant to sign on (the 19th).
The date i last singed on properly was the 5th July

Im just trying to find out if i was meant to be paid up til the 19th like the lady said or if i was lied to by her

If someone was to sign off on the 19th July because they had found work, were going on holiday or were going into education AND they hadn't missed any signing interventions they should have their benefit paid up to 19th July.

You missed your signing on 19th July which covered you for the period 6th July - 19th July so didn't sign to say that you were available for work for that period - infact you weren't available as you were unwell, so will not receive payment for that period of time.

I've never known anyone sign off after their third period of sickness, their claim is normally closed down by a JCP staff member. It looks like the lady that you spoke wasn't aware that this was your third period of sickness, so the information that she gave you was based on you handing in your signing book to request that the last day of your claim be 19th July. You weren't lied to as the lady probably wasn't aware of your circumstances. You shouldn't presume that your signing book has been lost as your payments are correct and I can't see how you can be successful in appealing that you should be paid for two weeks that included your third period of sickness.

I did actually explain to the lady on the front desk that i was meant to sign on the day before and i didnt because i was unwell, and that as it was my 3rd period of sickness i would be signing off and was told by her id be paid til the 19th
I have actually signed off of JSA before by doing the exact same thing (for a different reason), turning up to the job centre and handing in my booklet, and thats it, didnt get seen by anyone to sign my declaration, just a man on the front desk who checked everything was signed in my booklet
Anyway, i'll pop in on Monday and see what they say, and see if i can also use the phones there to do my rapid reclaim, will save me a 25 mins walk to the phone and back haha

I'd make a rapid reclaim on line now - your initial date of claim will be today, waiting until Monday might cost you a couple of days benefit

Last signed to 5/7 next due to sign 19/7 signed es40 upto and including 19/7- jcp cannot accept a signature on an es40 for a period of two weeks or more - i.e. 19/7 (AS YOU TECHNICALLY MISSED A SIGNING DAY)so i would imagine that is why your claim was closed from 5/7. The date on your signing on card should have been the day before you became sick. Speak to the jcp on monday but as dugdale says make a rr claim online now.
