Most effective fabric conditioner for the money?

I know that I can use vinegar etc (and I do),but for certain items I need a really hard working fabric conditioner. There are so many on the market its a bit overwhelming. I would be interested to know which ones people recommend (primarily for making things smell fresh rather than for softness).

I use Lenor spring awakening. It smells really fresh and lasts for ages. I love it. I look for the offers/sales in iceland and other supermarkets and buy 2/3 at a time. Not cheap I know, but I think it's worth it.:T0

I only ever use Comfort.
The smell lasts for ages on clothes, and when the bedding is done i love it when i walk in the room and can smell it....sad i know. lol0 -

Good to hear.
I've just stocked up on both the "spring" and "summer".
It's on offer at £2 for a 42 wash size and there's a £1 off coupon which obviously makes it £1 per bottle.
Fairy 42 wash can be had for £1 also.

It depends what you use fabric conditioner for really. If it's because you want things really really soft, then I would go for the mid level brand, just above value (you know for example Tesco's own) as I have used them a lot in the past and they don't feel any different to branded conditioner to me.
If it's just for the smell and making them a little softer then the value ranges work fine (in my opinion). You can get a litre of conditioner in wilkinsons for 30-ish pence and it smells quite nice. Just don't use their own brand detergent liquid as it smells like fairy (it probably is!)!0 -

Had been using Tesco's own which is 85p for 750ml, but managed to get 2 comfort (750ml) for £1.80 and the difference is amazing, the smell is so strong and lasts for ages. I use the pure Comfort, it's better for sensitive skin. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

I like the Lenor Infusions 'Breath of Fresh Air' (the blue one). I like the smell and I find it keeps things smelling fresh. I wait until it's on offer and stock up - I think it's been on offer in Sainsbury's recently, and I noticed in Asda yesterday there was some kind of offer on Lenor.0
