No idea where to put this query (other than health and beauty and the pet section are DEFINATELY wrong!) so have plonked it here in the hope that someone can help me......
I missed a payment to my car insurance this month (completely my fault, forgot a cheque that was coming out of the bank - so no argument that there wasnt the money there) got a letter (dated 20th July) from Close Premium (who do the money for my car insurers) telling me that the money wasnt there, and that I hadnt got to do anything, provision has been made to take the money on the 29th July.
I rang them to see if I could pay the £30 admin charge () seperately from a differnt bank account - got told no, which is fine - transferred that £30 to the account that I use for my DDs, and thought it was all over as they said they are going back to the bank on Friday (29th)
Today I get home from work to a letter (dated 25th July) from Close Premium telling me that they are going to serve a notice of default on me, telling me that I am in breach, and my money is overdue.
My question is simple really - how can I be in breach when the second date they are going to take the money from my bank hasnt passed yet? If its not there on Friday when they go back (which it should be!) then I could understand this second letter - but THEY are the ones who have told me to do nothing???
Is it worth me phoning and kicking up a stink about this? Im hoping that I havent forgotten any other cheques coming out of the bank -(though I have a brain like a seive, so there could well be!!) and I get paid Friday,so could easily pay it then - but if I ring and pay it will they then take a second batch of £62 from my bank?
and finally - AAAAARGH, Why the !!!! am I so stupid?!!!

Yep,
Phone them and make a stink over it.
Last year I had a similar problem with them.
Basically, I arranged my car insurance on monthly payments through my normal insurance broker.
I noticed a DD to close premium on my banking and cancelled it because I've never heard of them. Last time my insurance went through another finance co and I assumed this time it would be the same one.
Anyway, they sent a crappy letter and tried to charge extra fee's etc.
I just phoned them and went mental basically, but got my own way in the end..........;)Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:0
