Don't be a genital manipulator.
Perhaps your prepared to eat at a poverty level - when I'm away from home in a strange town I'll eat wherever is available and is nice.
I suspect if you travel on business you'll do the same.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
oh i dunno, with £57 a day i can grab a sandwich for lunch, couple of pints and a lap dance at night and a kebab on the way home.0

I could feed me and ny OH for a week on that.
drink/entertainment - buy your own,
How are you going to do that while travelling - Glasgow, London, Leicester, Sheffield. The venue could well be out of town with very limited access to amenities - when you have no car and you don't know where the local facilities are or how to get to them i doubt very much you'd start complaining about modest allowances.
Entertainment, its to network and build bridges - remember I'm away from home and family, its not a holiday break.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -

I work in a hotel so see all the allowances various companies allow - and actually the previous allowances quoted were pretty normal. Never heard of Social Allowance though, but many companies will allow say one alcoholic drink with dinner or whatever.
It is easier said than done to get a sandwich and a coffee for a fiver unless you are away from home and in a town centre. I know when I am away from home, that is never the case, and I often dont get lunch break to go and get lunch anyway. Likewise dinner for a tenner suggests pub prices, most women for example would not enter a pub on their own at night to dine. £10 will not cover most hotel prices, unless it is a restaurant adjacent to a budget inn but of course many travellers are not staying in those places. Most dinner allowances are £25, and most will allow at least one drink on top, whether alcoholic or otherwise. Most delegates on an actual training course would be on a delegate rate which would include a decent lunch , and more than likely dinner in the hotel rate.0 -
At my old work I think we were allowed around £25/30 or so for dinner cant remember exact amount, but there was one rate for if it was in London and a lower rate if it was outside. However, when people used to go on trips in the UK or abroad, they would regularly put in claims for drinks, and once I got lumped with buying everyone an icecream on a hot day abroad and having to show my receipt for that, so i thought Ill never get the money back for it but I did.
For lunch I think our allowance was £2.30! Love to know where you can get lunch for that - even a Boots meal deal is more lol! But then theyd let us get away with the drinks so I guess it all worked out. Was kind of weird.0
