Grrr banks!!

Hi all, I just wanted to know if anyone here has had a simular issue as mine below and how you guys dealt with the issue please.

I recently checked my credit report online and found that 2 things on there were wrong. I had a default on a loan, saying that I hadn't paid for months, when in fact I have never missed a payment. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I had this investigated and all is sorted and my credit score went up dramatically.
However, I applied for a loan today and I was denied because apparently I'm down as bankrupt . So having checked my report again, I conformed nothing like this is on my report. So I contacted the bank involved, who don't know why this information came up and that I will now have to take my report into them to prove I'm not bankrupt and they might gve me the loan..... I am so mad. Where are they getting this information from????
So glad I checked my credit report now.

Sorry for the little rant. I was so scared when I read that they said I had a bankrupt report against me, I sat and cried, as I didn't understand what was going on.

Thank you

Zeldazebs

They will check the insolvency register for bankruptcies I'd imagine when someone applies for credit.
Perhaps someone with the same name as you? You could check for yourself to see - http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/eiir/
If you are really unlucky could be someone with the same name and date of birth I guess.

Have you checked all 3 credit agencys? it could be that one has linked you with another person if your share a name etc.

Thank you for your replys. I have checked that register, nothing has come up with my name and I have checked with 2 credit agencies, so I really don't know what's going on :-( I will have to have a trip to the bank and speak to someone face to face.

    Thank you again

by any chance you dont bank with NatWest do you?

Same thing happened to me, i applied online for their step account (already have current account & a step account) and it got rejected because i am apparently registered bankrupt!

I had to go into branch with my reports for them to manually approve it. such a farse!
