[Advice Needed] Work refused time off to look after baby.

Babysitter, local childminder who has a space...have you considered these? Is there a friend or aunt/uncle/cousin who could take care of the baby.

It's really nice reading various views and opinions and I can fully understand and appreciate each one.
However, I'm asking for 1 hour 30 mins off unpaid. I've been at the job 2 years and I was shocked to hear they'd refused. It's also a double blow when I offer to do so much overtime including stock takes, 14 hour shifts etc and inreturn, given no repayment whatsoever.0 -

ITA that it's very frustrating when you give so much flexibility to a company, but it's not returned.
See how it goes tomorrow - it sounds like your boss was sympathetic, but the deputy manager just refused. Perhaps they weren't given all the details, or don't know about how flexible you've been for them.
Hopefully you'll get a yes - tell your boss you're prepared to work some (more) overtime if necessary(!), otherwise it will be absolutely fine for your OH to take the baby with her. And if you feel less inclined to help the company out in the future, then so be it!

Stop offering to do so much overtime etc unless you can take it as TOIL for events such as these. Document every extra hour. It's very petty of them so ask the question 'what can I do to leave a couple of hours early, bearing in mind all the overtime I've done, the stocktaking, the 14 hours shifts etc etc?'If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it.
