table center pieces

I'm after a bit of inspiration, we are planning on doing our own table center pieces and were thinking about having floating candles/fish bowls rather than flowers in order to try and keep the costs down.

I was just wondering what other people had done or items they had used to create a center piece

Thanks

  • We are having sweetie jars. So I've got plastic jars from ebay which once done up with a ribbon and full of sweets will be perfect. 3 per table and then at night time hoping to pop them onto one table with bags and it can be a wee sweetie buffet.

I'm planning to do sweetie bags of favours but will do these pre filled and at people's seats.

I think everyone will leave our wedding on a sugar high!

My daughter had a similar idea to decorate 10 large tables each seating ten and the top table. She used some clear glass fruit bowls bought in Morrisons for £2.99 each. First scattered the tables with fake rose petals in her wedding colours, we used 4 packets in total bought from ebay for £1 each and then added a few crystals, again ebay, this time 2 packets at £2 each. The bowl went in the centre with 3 floating candles bought from ikea. the bowl was then surrounded by tea lights in glass holders again from ikea (called glimma, I think).
extra petals etc were put onto the cake tables etc to co-ordingate.
The total cost was £60 but we will reuse the bowls and the tealight holders.

Ours are gorgeous purple bowls from next, with a large pillar candle in from morrisons, and then instead of the normal gravel scattered around the base of the candle we are having mini eggs.
They will work out, including a few scatter gems, at about £10 a table, and we are going to give the bowls as presents to our bridesmaids and other helpful people.
