Are Full & Finals more successful in writing?

Hi,
I know that any full and final settlement agreements must be in writing.
But, during negotiations do you think people have more success when they write to a creditor compared to on the phone?
I ask as i have initially phoned them and have not got anywhere so was wondering if i write, its somehow more formal looking and may be considered more seriously.
What do you think?
Thx

Hi
Generally, telephone calls and any arrangements that are made that way arn't worth the toilet paper they weren't printed on in the first place. All negotiations like this should be in writing to protect you primarily. If it's in writing, you have a record of exactly what was said at each point and there is usually little room for interpretation. However, negotiations like this tend to take longer....my experience (anecdotal) is that when you ring up, you're speaking to a monkey with little more authority than the office caretaker, but written correspondence gets routed to a department trained to deal with it and you probably have someone who knows what they are talking about reading it.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
