credit file question.

I'm just checking my credit files online and when I first got my mortgage I didn't set up a direct debit as I was temping so didn't know when I 'd have money in my account and my mortgage got quite behind so on my file the first 17 months where it shows late payments between 2 and 5 months. For the next 31 months since I sorted my direct debit out it was fine then in July 2005 I remortgaged to another lender and I've been fine with payments since then too. Will this full history stay on my account until 2011 or will it update each month so it only ever keeps 6 years history and basically in 17 months all of the bad payments will have dropped off the end?

should only keep a 6 year history ...... given its so far in hte past, many lenders wouldnt bother with it, so long as your records have been up to date since.
