Homemade fabric letters

Options
Hello all crafty people :)

I want to make 4 fabric letters spelling out "baby" for my nursery.

I'm not very crafty - have limited craft resources (i.e. no sewing machine etc).

My plan is to trace some large printed letters onto cardboard, cover with white/lemon gingham fabric and stuff with foam. This may be too simplistic and more difficult than I'm thinking it will be - does anyone have any pointers/advice etc for this?

Thanks

xDx

I found this tutorial. The letters are bought from a store, but I'm sure you could stick several layers of cardboard together to make them as thick as these.

  • I would hand sew them. cut out out two of each letter from your fabric (one of front and one back) then sew around the reverse sides and then turn them in the right way and stuff with the inside of a cheap pillow. its easier than it sounds!
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

You could print off the letters and use them as a pattern to cut foam to shape then cover them with fabric. Also think Hobbycraft sell letters to cover
