Serious compers can win £1000's. The highest winners tend to be good at slogan comps as they require skill. However they will all tell you that this is neither reliable income or always easily convertible income (e.g. non transferrable holidays). Often the total comes from many small prizes like tickets to events or cds/ dvds.

It is a great hobby. Its always nice coming home to see if the postman has bought a prize. It is though a hobby. I found it especially good when I was a stay at home mum. I could use it to fill the hours when my daughter was in bed etc. It could never replace my job now I am reliant on the income from my job.

    Prizefinder does not charge.

The mags were good before the internet. I feel I can get all the info I need online now.

Loquax is also a good comping site and free.

If you want answers, just put a post on a comping forum. Someone will usually supply the answer.

I tried Loquax a couple of weeks ago, but found it quite complicated - but there again I do tend to be a bit slow on the uptake with reading instructions. So much prefer MSE

I find Loquax quite complicated too. Prizefinder is easier. The advantage of Loquax is that it tracks your entries. They also run some nice comps on site and there is a good forum community. No answers, so you have to google or ask on a forum if you don't know. I also use uk rec competitions sometimes.

Must go, will be seeing in the new year doing comps at this rate. Though must say with the wild weather outside that seems a very appealing option.:D
  • I use Prizefinder and had a look at the subscription for the Plus one but found it wasn't really any benefit to me. I don't rely on comps for money - I'm sure that could take years but have had a couple of good things... very small but still useful to me than something I entered just for entering.

Hopefully with the challenge I'll get a lot more and will be a good boost to those days when I don't feel like entering. But going to think positively and hope for the best!

I think if you are paying for something like those sites then you want the most for your money so you are going to be entering a lot more than you might if you aren't losing out.

I only usually enter free online/email comps. Occasionally, I will send off a postcard if it's money or something I want to win, and sometimes I will enter via text, but don't pay any more than 50p for text entires.

I have won a lot in 2006, and hope to match it in 2007, but I have been very lucky this year.
