I'm not sure if the term is out of fashion...or an expense that can be avoided when planning a wedding...

Mind you I've never seen one at a wedding...any any you do find nowadays probably use a vacuum to clean a chimney with rather than a traditional brush!

Heh heh many a times I've accidently burnt a hole in the vacuum cleaner bag because I've sucked up embers that weren't quite cold enough!! Ooops! We do have a set of chimney sweep brushes though :)

My gramp used to do it and my dad once cleaned a teachers chimney. The scary teacher everyone was terrified of she was always nice to me after that :). We were quite poor at the time and the car conked out as we ran out of petrol on the way home :( we had to walk 3 miles home.

I'm our chimbley sweep - every summer without fail I hop up on the roof and give it a good clear out :) (But there again it's easy on a narrowboat).

As for the good luck thing, I may well invite our local coal boatman to our reception - he's usually completely covered in coal dust :D
