It has to be those things you use with sufficient regularity which will keep well by either straightforward storage (tea, coffee, tomato in tins, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, toothpaste, soap, rice, tuna fish, flour etc. if you are a regular baker and breadmaker, bleach, etc. etc.) and those which will fit well into your freezing capacity or which you can dehydrate or process. I never buy things like Flora unless they are on offer and then I buy enough for a month or more. It saves me money and makes me feel better about using Flora. Eventually I might have to change suppliers, but I am giving them the benefit of doubt for a while. Generally I would suggest you have to turn items round in a couple of months, but there are always exceptions and if the item doesn't take up too much room and you will use it in due course, what sort of interest are you losing on your money? Maybe we should all invest in commodities instead of saving?Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

My faves are coffee, baked beans, tinned tomatoes, ketchup, cereals, tuna, nappies, wipes. I buy about 3 months worth whenever my favourite is on offer (as they tend to be on offer on a regular-ish cycle). With other items like toilet rolls, sanitary items, deo's, cleaning products, i buy whatever i can reasonably stash but normally about 6 months worth.

I tend to stock up on all our favourites when they come on offer - pasta sauces, pasta, rice, clover /utterly butterly, bagels, cereals, beans, tinned tomatoes, ........
I also stock up on about 3-4 months worth, as they come on offer pretty regular between the main supermarkets.
However, storage is a problem. I currently have breakfast cereals under my bed!
Also we have enough washing powder/fabric conditioner/toiletries to last us quite a few years :rotfl:
HTHMFW - currently at £23,610 (Aug 2014) MFD 20200 -
Cereals - namely Special K, Oatibix and Choc Weetabix as with the other cereals, I buy Aldi's stuff. Though their red berry Special K is good for stop gaps until next 2 for £4 is on.
Coffee - Dowle Egberts and Carte Noir. Last time I bought some DE when the 200g jars were 2 for £7 at Sainsburys (they are £5.99 each)
Coke/Pepsi - cans when they are on offer. Though this time, I didn't buy any of the 10 cans pack half price at Sainsburys as I have no room - have 38 cans at home.
Beer. Only buy beer if the cases are on offer either individually or 3 for £20. On the latter offer, I go halves with a friend's OH and buy 3 different beers and have half of each case
Wine - either on half price or x for £y.
Toiletries and female products = half price or bogof.0 -

Freebies or as near free as possible when using vouchers.
Max up as much as possible.
Fabric conditioner, Dettol stuff, Fairy Liquid etc is cheap at the moment (got well over 6 months supply now).
Lidl half-price weekend meat offers and reduced meat in supermarkets (fill your freezer), if you're a non-veggie.

My favourite is Andrex loo rolls. My husband says when I die they won't be able to get to the body because of the wall of Andrex built around me! He's assuming he will go first, which is a good assumption if he keeps on making remarks like that.:D0

Ceriel and biscuits here, I've got a cupboard full! Toiletries would be next but since they last a long time anyway there's no point having too much stock. I don't drink fizzy drink, if I did I'd probably stock up on the cans when they're less than 20p/can0
