Tesco has another HD freeview box (Technika STBHDH2010 Freeview HD digital Set Top Box) for £30 and includes a free HDMI cable, which will bring in RTE digital channels, however it will NOT bring in UK HD channels as Northern Ireland transmitters do not have HD mux's.

northernireland10 - NOTHING will get UK HD Freeview in NI until the switchover (late 2012) obviously, but once the swithover happens, any FreeviewHD box will work.

Many thanks for all your helpful advice.

I had a look at my local Tesco's but cheapest HD Freeview box was £70, so I think I will keep an eye out for the Grundig Box at Maplins when the dust settles!

The new Argos book has one for £59.99, thats about as good as its going to get at the moment I think for Freeview HD. Cat no 532/2408

Whatever you do, don't take up the HDMI cable offer, HDMI cables are not worth £25 plus, they are not even worth £10, they can be got for £2 and to add insult to injury, most HD receivers have one included in the box for free..

The Freeview HD box is in the Tesco Direct website/catalogue which could be ordered to your local tesco, the cat no is 209-0458. It is £30 and comes with a free HDMI cable if you input the cat number for it.
