Builder recomendations: Lurgan/Portadown/Craigavon

Hi All,
I live between Lurgan and Portadown (lucky me!!). Anyway I have some plans drawn up for a rear 2 storey extention. Nothing massive but enough for an extra bedroom upstairs and a large kitchen/diner.
I've got a quote off the builder who originally built the property (he doesn't have much on at the moment) and to be honest it seemed quite expensive.
I'd like to get some more quotes but really would love to be confident in the builder. Anyone have any recomendations?
Many Thanks in advance!

For God sake..... just come out and say it....you live in CRAIGAVON!! There's no shame in that!! :rotfl:
Was thinking of doing that myself and in the past had wondered how to get a good builder. Then a friend advised just drive around some of the local housing developments and look out for any houses that have been extended (They'll be pretty obvious) and if the job looks good, just knock on hte door and ask the owner/resident if they could give you the builders details! No harm in asking!0 -
Okay - you got me!!
Yeah, not a bad idea I guess. You just hear so many horror stories about builders at times that you want to do everything you can to ensure you get a reasonable, reliable, professional person!0 -

why do people never admit to living in roundabout city ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -

Hope you have all your approvals in place.
Get 3-4 tenders and make sure everyone is pricing the same amount of work under the same contractural conditions! If you don't the tenders will be meaningless.[STRIKE]Less is more.[/STRIKE] No less is Less.0 -

Ah but a Craigavon postal code doesn't necessarily mean Craigavon. OP could live in Bluestone, Bocombra, Ballygargan, Bleary or a number of other townlands and villages between Portadown and Lurgan which are not, strictly speaking, Craigavon. (i.e. not Mandeville or Brownlow).
