Any guesses what % a DCA buys a debt for??

Any guesses or does anyone have any experiences?

If a debt was for 10,000 what do you think a debt company would buy it for?

Depends on whether it's Statute Barred or not really. Sometimes it can be as low as 10%.

When I worked for a company that passed debts to a DCA the split was 65/35. It was a no collect no fee, which alot of them work too.

High Court Bailiffs were different, they took a fee to take on the debt and a fee on collection.

  • Hi,

Not statute barred. Just in default for the last two years with token payments being made.

Really difficult to guess - debts are generally sold in blocks not individually priced.

But the overall price would depend on whether they had all the paperwork they needed, as above whether its SB, how likely they think it is that the creditor will ever pay in full and how quickly they expect you to pay it off.

As the debt isn't statute barred and they are in contact with you and you are making payments that would make it worth more than someone who is missing and hasn't paid for years etc.

Impossible to say, some bad debts are definitely bought for as little 10% or so, but equally some would be bought for maybe up to 40%.
