There are 2 of us and we currently spend £250ish a month. It's too much and I aim to reduce this to a more reasonable amount over the next few months. The Old Style board is fantastic for ideas. I'm going to challenge myself to spend £120 in January- and this isn't a tight budget according to most people on here :o

  • Wow. I have just totted up all my food bills over the past three months and I average [STRIKE]£25[/STRIKE] actually £22.06 a week on just me! :o That's £95.52 a month.

My resolution for 2007 should be to cut my food bills, I thought I was kinda good because I didn't eat out, buy takeaways or eat premium supermarket brands every night like my flatmates :rotfl:

For 1 adult, 1 child, we average out at a total of £19 p/week.

I have little challenges within each shop:

    - how many things I can get for less than 50p that we need
    - only buying 1-2 items max over £2 (as needed)
    - using meal planning, but if a different item is better value on BOGOF/offer, I substitute it

I don't buy toiletries/cleaning items (Stardrops!) in the supermarket either, as over-priced, so I have £8 a month budget for Wilkos/Savers combined and fruit/veg comes from the market at @ £2 per week (and we've just started walking to it as well!)
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18
  • Thanks for all the tips/advice everyone, it's really helpful! :).

With this in mind, I've revised my food budget to £90 a month, this is for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I've had a think about what kind of stuff I would make and I see no reason why this isn't very doable.
