PTLLS for teaching as an adult community education tutor

Hi everyone

Sorry if this has been asked before but I had a quick search and couldn't find anything. I've been looking at different courses to study from September or January and have come across this one. I have already got a degree in Primary Education (but didn't get the qts as placement was a nightmare - i should have retook but didn't and now would need to do a PGCE - which i don't want to do at the moment) but something like this would interest me as I am pretty patient and feel competent in teaching or assisting in a variety of subjects. I've got 8 GCSE's, 3 A-levels and my degree if it helps.

Anyway, has anyone had any experience on this course and if so has it lead to successful employment afterwards?

Any help will be greatly appreciated :)
:T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:

    If you want to make a proper career in this sector, I'd recommend doing a full teaching course.

    I've done my PTTLS as a run up to doing DTTLS to get my QTS which will then let me teach in FE.

    It was the better option for me as I can't afford to do the PGCE.

    It means I'll be able to work with the age range that I love working with i.e. adults and in my subject which I have professional competency.

    You do need access to learners to do your DTTLS as you are assessed on your teaching but not for your PTTLS.
  • I've done it and we were all assessed on our teaching as part of the course.I did it at Northern College Barnsley, and it was about £130.00 but this was paid for by my employer.
    I was doing a lot of groupwork with adults at the time and apparently this is the qualification to have for that.
    It was o.k.

    What I meant was you are assessed doing a micro teach to the other students on the course not real learners whereas with DTTLS you are assessed whilst actually teaching your learners.
  • I was assessed doing the micro teach with the other learners and as the facilitator with my own group of 15 students.
