Tesco have 2kg red lentils on special offer for £1.99 in their world food aisle. They are Indus Chana Dal type.
Cheapest I can see between Tesco and Asda is 17.6p per hundred grammes, compared to 10p, great for the winter store cupboard.

just ordered 4 bags. 50p per 500g is a really good deal. i also used the £20 off £40 crowdity voucher which makes it 25p per 500g.

as a note - Chana Dal aren't 'red lentil' lentils
They are Indian split mini chickpeas, and are more like yellow split peas to cook with, best done in a pressure cooker for quicker meals. They are fab for making Tarka dal! 0
