Places to see in Belfast - first time on a break

Hi all, We have been to Belfast, must be close to 100 times (shopping/hospitals/concerts etc) over the past 3 decades but this is our first short break to our first city:-) We arrive on Monday 01 Aug for 2 nights at the Premier Inn Alfred Street.
We have been at the Zoo a good few times so looking for maybe 2 / 3 things to see or do. We had thought about the Botanical Gardens and the Transport Museum, what do you think? We hope to travel from L'Derry via either bus or train (I'm not too fond of driving in Belfast we are used to just one lane...LOL) the places need to be handy enough to get to. No doubt we will end up for a few hours in Victoria Square for retail relaxation as well....
Thanks in advance for any tips and advice.............:D

Not sure which Premier Inn you mean but in any case what about a boat trip in the docks? http://www.laganboatcompany.com The folk and transport museum is very good too. You would need transport though and there is a railway stop not too far away http://www.nmni.com/uftm/Visiting-Information/Getting-here
Or what about Befast splash tours? http://www.belfastsplashtours.com/ let us all know how it goes!Dave0 -

Thanks Dave, I'll look at these and I meant to say Alfred Street and not Ann Street for the Premier Inn's location.“Having, first, gained all you can, and, secondly saved all you can, then give all you can"....John Wesley

If you want to venture as far out as Botanic Avenue you will get some great cocktails between 5-8pm and there half price, me and my OH love to go there and people watch while enjoying a drink. It does get busy around these times though. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

You can hop on a bus and get a tour of the city - no idea of costs, sorry.
The Ulster Museum is free to visit and it's beside the Botanic Gardens. Maybe that's what you mean rather than the transport museum as it's near Holywood rather than in the city centre.
Check what's happening in Custom Square - events are held there on a regualr basis. The shinbone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.:TBig thanks to all competition posters:T0 -

Since you're using public transport, there's some ideas on the Translink website: http://www.translink.co.uk/Metro/Footer/Metro-Special-Services/See-Belfast-by-Metro/
Also see this link for some possible money saving offers: http://www.translink.co.uk/Containers/Offers-Container/Active-Offers-Container/Belfast-Visitor-Pass2/
Hope you have a great time!0 -
A free tour of the city hall is worth an hour of your time0
