Tax Error

Hi,
Need a little bit of advice.
Completed some extra work in the 09-10 tax year for my employer.
Employer failed to pay for extra work in timely manner - company has paid for parts of work completed at various points since original date. Tax has been paid on all funds received.
I was not a taxpayer in the 09/10 tax year (when work completed, and pay should have been received) but have been since 10/11. Company states it has to tax at source (seems fair enough) and doesn't seem to want to compensate for the difference.
I can understand that tax will have to be applied, but it would seem reasonable to reimburse me for tax incurred as a result of company's error, no?
I'm asking because I'm starting to think that I am expecting something unreasonable.

You should maybe try talking to the tax office rather than the employer.
What was the arrangement? did you invoice employer etc? If you have invoices dated the previous tax year then you should have something to talk to the tax office with.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
afaik its not a tax office problem its between you and your employer, if they have left you worse off due to not paying you on time then you have to take it up with them.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
