Hi
I have worked hard recently cleaning up my credit report from all 3 major companies. I have just logged in to one and there is a brand new default - from this month - for £21 with arrow global. It is at an old address. I have rung them but they are shut, so will ring again tomorrow. From what I can work out date wise from the start etc entries on my credit report it looks like a debt that I have already settled with another company. Do I have the right to demand they remove their entry off my credit report? Also what right do I have as it has obvioulsy damanged my credit worthiness this month etc - surely they should be held account and offer some compenstation. It is not right that these companies do this when a debt is already setteled!
They should be regulated more, I am soooo annoyed as have done so much to clean up my reports with all 3 agencies. And am just waiting 12 months so that all searches drop off and my outstnading debt is lowered through payements - all green markers except for that one!
Grrrr - sorry to rant.

Once you have it confirmed what the debt is then you should insist it is removed (arrow will ask for proof it wwas settled etc).
Have they dated the default the same as the original default or a date this month?
Very unlikely you'll get any compensation out of them as its nigh on impossible to prove that you have suffered any loss. And because its a low level DCA who don't play fair.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks for your reply. It has been dated as July this year! The orginal date is several years ago! I paid it and settled with Provident who bought the debt and this was cleared in Feb this year. How do I prove it was settled as it was through an agent who visited? It shows provident on my credit reports and show that it is settelled - would this be enough?
Have been bullied to many times by DCA's and thought that Id paid everyone from my stupid younger past and am now concentrating on clearing things from now. (One credit card is so high balance due to clearing an old debt on it - bullied by DCA who read out my credit report to me and what i had available etc. At least its green markers for the CCard and a setteled debt. Am doing a part time job and should be able to clear it in 12 months!)0 -
should read an extra part time on top of working full time. part time job will pay debt fingers crossed0

Did you pay off the debt in full, not partially settled? Do you have copies of statements and receipts of payments to the provi agent?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

I think I do have copies will have to search. Worried that if I dont then this marker on my report will stick! Thanks so much for your advice, ready for a battle on the phone tomorrow! Have read loads on here and will follow all the advice, thought this was all behind me (dealing with DCA's), so annoyed that its not!0

It would be worth checking with Provi's head office in Bradford what their records show about this debt.
Despite their reputation they are well organised and their head office staff are usually very helpful.0
