If all else fails try halifax easy cash account. You can apply on the website, i have been turned down left right and centre until last week. I applied online, it stated that they would look into my application as they were experiencing a high demand and they should reply within a couple of weeks.
To my suprise my online banking details were sent out 2 days later, yesterday i got my bank card and im just waiting for the pin number, excellent service!0 -
Myself and my DH have just set up new accounts with nationwide this week as we are both in the process of setting up DMPs'. We told them we needed a basic account with no overdraft and a ATM card. We also told them why we were doing it. We're still waiting for the paperwork but were given sort codes and account numbers so it should all be ok.0

When I first sought help from CCCS two years ago I asked Co-op for a Cashminder account and told them "up front" about CCCS and they were more than happy to give me a basic account.

Thanks everyone. It's lifted my mood quite nicely and given me a little hope. I've got a plan B if required (managed account) but hopefully that won't be required.
All very frustrating - 6-8 months ago we both had creditors fighting to give us more debt (we refused). Get robbed blind and fall behind (take £1500 out of your monthly living for the past 4 months and you'll get the picture!) and you soon see who your friends are. Still, once we get organised I'll have a little problem to help put my teeth into - people trying to sort out their financial problems should be helped not treated like social lepers.
I'll keep you posted on the results...fingers crossed!0 -
Hi,
Coming in a bit late here but wanted to chip in anyway.
I was on a DMP and mostly likely also had defaults everywhere.
I opened up a Cooperative cashminder (basic) account and a Santander basic account within a few days of each other. Did both online.
I made no mention of my DMP or any financial difficultes and, if I had been a victim of identity fraud, would not have told them either.
I kept an eye out for any tick boxes for an overdraft and made sure I did not accidenlty 'ask' for one. I think if you ask for an overdraft they will do a credit search.
Anyway, all was accepted with no questions asked. Santander were quite a bit slower to set up and i had to phone up to chase. They still tried to sell me a current account but I just said I wanted a no frills account purely to pay bills.
I would try to open any basic accounts online as you then dont have to talk to someone and fend off their selling/questions.0 -

You need to check whether there is any CIFAS warning attached to you or your accounts. Also whether National Hunter has fraud markers against your accounts. I do not think these show up on credit reports.
They warn when your accounts have been subject to fraudulent transactions. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks both - appreciate the thoughts. Re CIFAS - there should be some warnings on our files as we've been reporting stuff. Also CCCS mentioned a report you can get from CIFAS (takes a few weeks to come thought).
We ended up telling Co-op about the fraud since the markers are there - probably a good job since we discovered today that the Halifax current account had been hit again for hundreds and we're the ones left holding the baby.
So either co-op by Friday or Secure Trust shortly after - we would have to move due to the Lloyds/HBOS merger but this incident has just confirmed that we need something new that's not linked to Lloyds (where all the trouble started from) - and we need to do it soon.0 -
Good Luck on your new account

If anyone heard a loud female Welsh cheer at around 9.30 this morning....that means you heard the wife who had just got the good news that we've got a co-op account! Two very happy people here!!:j
Got a bit of work to do with payday loans (never signed for them and never applied for them) and then we're motoring again!
Thanks for all the support now and for the future! :beer:0 -
Now just make sure that that account is not compromised; I think the Co-op allow you three chances before they strike you out.
Please please contact CIFAS and get protective registration; that means every time anyone tries to use your ID to get money or goods extra checks are made to ensure you are you.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
