Can DMPs hurt a partner's credit record?

I set up a DMP before I met my partner, who has an excellent credit record. When we moved in together we were careful to avoid joint bank accounts etc. as I was afraid my poor scores (several defaults at the time the DMP was set up) would affect his creditworthiness if a financial link was established. Now we're thinking of marriage but I'm worried that this will provide an indisputable financial link and adversely affect him. My only idea is to wait several years 'til my debt is paid and the defaults disappear from my credit record, but that's not very romantic and neither of us is getting any younger! Does anyone have advice on anything we should/shouldn't be doing to make sure my poor credit history doesn't damage my partner's unblemished credit record? Is marriage a bad idea?

Just being married won't link you on your credit files. Just steer clear of joint accounts/loans/mortgages and you will be fine.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
