Tinted moisturiser....do it yourself?

Hi All
I have fairly nice skin and so do not often wear foundation....but opt for tinted moisuriser. I have been using the olay one which has maxfacor foundation in it....but I do think it is slightly too dark!
I thought to myself on Saturday, right I will splash out and buy myself a really good one and so spend the day trawling around the expensive counters at boots and debenhams. However, despite some very helpful staff....even the lightest tinted moisturisers they do are too dark for my skin!!! (at least they were honest enough to tell me)
i have now come to the conclusion that to get the shade and quality I want, I am going to have to buy a foundation and some moisturiser and mix them myself. Does anyone else do this? What foundations and moisturiser do you use? Do you find it gives a nice even coverage?
Thanks in advance :T

I have done this before, it's trial and error really as some don't blend very well. Have you tried Boots natural collection tinted moisturiser? It's very light and also cheap.0

I do this all the time, I find it best to use quite a pigmented foundation and as geri said its trial and error. Sometimes I mix in highlighter or sometimes wrinkle filler and sometimes just normal moisturiser, products I like are Revlon Colourstay foundation, EL Doublewear foundation, EL Spotlight highlighter and Soap n Glory wrinkle filler, I'm using sk:ny mosituriser atm:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Mineral foundation is your friend here, mixes lovely with moisturiser to make a tinted one
Or look on ELF - at only 3.50 each you can buy a few to try, im using both the nude and the beige0 -
was about to recommend elf as well - i struggle to get things pale enough and they seem to suit me. at their prices you can try a couple of shades as well. they have two types - one under the 'face' tab and one under the 'studio' tab (SPF 15 versus 20).:happyhear0

Its very popular, was out of stock for ages. My skin isnt the best but it gives me good coverage0 -
I am the second for mineral foundation. I take mineral foundation from Revlon. It is very smooth. I have some red acne spots on my cheeks and I found it can give a great coverage.0
