hi everyone,
Don't really think this is the correct board but cannot find a more suitable one.
I am moving over to England in a month or so with my Spanish partner. Can anyone tell me how to register for a NI number?
Also here in Spain I applied for residency, does she have to do the same in England?
Thanks, Steve.

Thank you for your reply. I have visited this linked page before, but unless i'm stupid (great possibility) I can not find the information I require.
I am a British citizen, so will have no problem working. It is my partner that will need to register for a NI number. Where will she do this? She will need the number before she is able to apply for work I expect.
Thanks, Steve0 -
If you are a British citizen wouldnt you already have a NI number?0

As an EU national they are under no obligation to apply for residency or a visa etc but they can optionally apply for recognition of their rights by the home office. If they choose not to then they effectively simply have to prove their rights at multiple different times (eg when applying for citizenship). See http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/eucitizens/
UK and Spain should be almost identical because both are simply applying EU law but there can be some interpritational differences of cause.
If she wants to work in the UK she will need to apply for an NI number0 -
Thank you for replying. I have just found the information I needed.
If anybody else needs it, follow this link http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/ni/intro/number.htm#30 -

If you have employment:
It is easier to apply for a NI Number once you have secured employment. In order to apply for the number you will need documentation to do with employment (such as a contract or letter from your employer).
If you are not yet employed:
If you have not yet secured employment you can still apply however certain documents will be required (such as job rejection letters, letters from your recruitment agent etc).
At the linky more info on how to apply too..0
