Write off debt ??

Keep getting calls and seeing signs advertising this how likely is this going to happen ?? and advice is great please help :) i have a loan which im re paying and a old bank account that im paying off the overdraft any chance of getting rid ? cheers

    No,absolutely no chance at all you will get them written off.
    There is possibly a chance you might find the loan is legally unenforceable (depending on when taken out and the consumer credit agreement signed at the time) but even if unenforceable they can only not take court action, they can still wreck your credit rating for the next 6years if you stop paying.

    You can write to your creditors asking the debt to be written off. However, you'll need one hell of a watertight excuse... something along the lines of your doctor giving you 2 weeks to live.

    What do you mean like in Bankruptcy or an IVA?
    Obviously if there was an easy way to write off their debts everybody would be doing it and it would bring the countries economy to it's knees.
    They could be referring to statute barred debts but that's hardly new or checking whether a debt is unenforceable but a) it not new either and b) recent rulings have said that companies don't need to have an exact copy of the contract you signed when you took out the loan/card I believe.
    If it sounds too good to be true.... You don't need us to tell you that though do you?
