For masochists and nutters like me who love winter ! If you click "latest image" it will show you how far south the snow has come every day. Bit like waiting for Santa but different!
Thank you, helps to see what's in store.0 -
I'm after some advice from all of you fabby OS fixers & menders if you please
I have a Del0nghi CKS510 slow cooker which I muchly love & adore but the kn0b on the lid won't stay on & I keep ending up with the bolt that holds it in place dropping into the grub that's cooking.
It appears that the sh#ft that the bolt goes into in the middle of the plastic kn0b has a crack in it.
I've tried good old superglue but after 2-3 uses the thing falls apart again (I'm guessing its the heat).
Hubby called Del0nghi customer services...about as much use as a chocolate teapot....shunted around 2-3 different numbers only to eventually be advised by text that the said kn0b is not available as a spare part.
Now I really don't want to junk an otherwise perfectly funcitional slow-cooker just because of such a minor fault & really cannot afford to replace it anyway!
So any suggestions on a heat resistant solution please??0 -

take the bolt and knob to to diy store and get a new one, (had to do that for my wok lid) or try PTFE tape (used in plumbing) on it, may provide enough thread grip to keep it in place.0 -
Hi Draagonfly,
I had a similar problem with our old slow cooker, replaced the kn0b with a wooden one from a diy store - the sort you can buy for chests of drawers etc. I don't know if that would work with the make that you have? It was held on with a screw that went through a washer on the inside, if that makes sense.0 -

B&Q do De Longhi slow cooker spares and have a helpline if you can't find what you want.0 -
Thanks Annie123, Chipps & Charis
We tried the PTFE plumbers tape before the superglue but the split is just too big.
Don't know why I didn't think of just going somewhere & buying an alternative....will do so tomorrow :T
I just knew you lovely OS-ers would come up with something to help out :j0 -
feeling tough here - having to get up at 7.30 on a sunday!!!! DD would not be persuaded that she wanted to stay inour bed for snuggles and playing with the kittens. On the upside hens are cleaned out and another load of washing done.
Have some veggies lurking in the fridge - aubergine, cauli and spinach - so am considering a veg curry for the freezer - anyone got any recipes?
Found some fab candy stripe flannelette sheets in B&M yest but only in kingsize so of to the bigger one out of town later to see if I can get single for dd's bed - perhaps if its super snuggly and cute she's stay in there longer!!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Yet another horrible dreich day here - we are so sick of cold & rain and no fire. If winter carries on as the rest of this year has, we will be up to our eyeballs in snow all through it! The wee chickens are fed up too of paddling around in gloopy mud. They need better drainage in there & it's too heavy for us to do. Wish I'd got bloody ducks instead.
RV is on a mission to not use elect at all because he's mad (well he's always been mad eh) at Scottish Power prices. We switch to Co-op Energy at end of the month so hopefully they will be better. So the days are dark, cold and grim here.. with 6" of tepid water in the bath - it's a cross between Britain at War and Bleak House :rotfl:

...Where is Choc Clare???????
She hasn't responded to my query either Mar. She's probably just having a "real life".
The weather has tricked us here and it's lovely again. I have done mny chores and had my porridge and am going to waken the rest of them as we have loads to do. OH is felling another tree today so that will be next year's fuel for the woodburner. It will also open up our view to the sea which will make me happy. :j
Out for dinner to friends tonight and I am feeling so spoiled at not having to cook a Sunday Roast.
Hope all the people with poorly feet feel better soon.xx
